Jane Margolis is a Senior Researcher at UCLA Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, Her research focuses on the underrepresentation of females and students of color since 1994. She studies computer science as a window into how inequality is reproduced and how fields become segregated.
Since 2004, she has been involved in building university/K-12 partnerships around democratizing computer science knowledge for all students.
She is the author of Stuck in the Shallow End: Education, Race, and Computing (MIT, 2008) and the co-author of Unlocking the Clubhouse: Women in Computing (MIT, 2002).
